Redflow Executive Chairman Simon Hackett with ZCell enclosure on-screen Australian battery innovator Redflow today launches its first residential energy storage solution, ZCell, a breakthrough system that includes a battery made from easily recyclable or reusable components.

ZCell can store 10 kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy, allowing people to ‘timeshift’ solar power from day to night, store off-peak power for peak demand periods and support off-grid systems.

Australian residential installations are scheduled to start mid year, kicked off by an introductory rebate offer for eligible Redflow shareholders. Full details of ZCell and the opportunity to reserve a ZCell battery are available at www.zcell.com. International availability will be announced in coming months.

Redflow Executive Chairman Simon Hackett said ZCell was a breakthrough system. “ZCell breaks many of the rules that apply to legacy batteries, making it ideal for the home market,” he said.

Redflow non-executive director Patrick Tapper Australian battery manufacturer Redflow Ltd has appointed experienced technology industry executive Patrick Tapper to its board of directors, just one week before its residential battery launch.

With more than 25 years experience in the telecommunications, technology, media, and entertainment industries, Mr. Tapper will hold a non-executive role as ASX-listed Redflow (ASX: RFX) starts its next phase of growth.

Mr. Tapper, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, already holds non-executive director roles with Silver Chef Ltd (ASX: SIV), Acurus Pty Ltd, and SYC Ltd. He previously worked with Redflow Executive Chairman Simon Hackett from 1998 to 2013 at Internode, where he was CEO and Executive Director.

Simon Hackett in Redflow's Adelaide battery lab Australian battery manufacturer Redflow Ltd has established a battery laboratory in Adelaide to assist with its software development and to certify its zinc bromide flow batteries with multiple inverters.

While ASX-listed Redflow (ASX:RFX) has its core R&D facilities in Brisbane, the Kent Town-based lab provides important support for the launch of the company’s residential battery. Last month, Redflow announced that it will launch its residential battery before the end of March with commercial installations scheduled to occur from June this year.

Redflow also reported it had completed an oversubscribed capital raising of $7.36 million and concurrently launched a $5.56 million entitlements offer. These funds will provide extra working capital for its residential battery rollout and to continue developing a new higher energy battery.

Redflow Executive Chairman Simon Hackett, who is developing Battery Management System (BMS) software for Redflow's residential battery, has established the battery lab.

The Kent Town-based company will provide WOMADelaide attendees with welcome respite from the heat and bustle of the four-day festival in the large comfortable VAF Listening Lounge, which will stream live music from WOMADelaide’s Foundation Stage and the Moreton Bay Stage on high-fidelity VAF loudspeakers.

The lounge will offer free high-speed WiFi access and free phone-charging facilities plus a Combi Coffee van to recharge your batteries. VAF umbrellas and VAF ‘bumboxes’ will give the brand high visibility throughout Botanic Park. WOMADelaide runs from Friday, March 11 to Monday, March 14.

VAF Research founder Philip Vafiadis, who is chairman of business innovation specialist Innovyz and also co-founded Zen Energy Systems, said 2016 was shaping up as a great year for the company. “We have big plans for this year, starting with WOMADelaide,” he said.
