Intrepid PR professional Mike O'Reilly spent half of December on the ocean waves as the passionate sailor completed his inaugural Rolex Sydney to Hobart yacht race as a crew member aboard the SA-based racing yacht Pale Ale Rager.

Mariner Mike not only manned the sails on the Elliott 56 yacht on the 1170 km maritime marathon, he played a central role in helping skipper Dr. Gary Shanks prepare for the race and deliver the yacht from Adelaide to Sydney. He also helped with media reports and filmed the epic for promotional purposes.

Ten years after surviving the fatal storm of the 1998 Sydney to Hobart Race, South Australia’s most competitive offshore yacht ‘Rager’ completed its ninth race to Hobart last month. Rager was the 25th boat across the line in the 64th Sydney to Hobart race, completing it in two days, 16 hours and 42 minutes. The after-race party took even longer.

SA Heart Centres Chairman Dr Bronte AyresAdelaide-based network specialist  MIMP has installed one of the fastest privately-owned wireless networks in the world to help SA Heart Centres deliver better patient care.

When Australia’s largest cardiology group, SA Heart Centres, recognised that its computer network was holding back its development by an inability to transfer large medical imaging files between branches, it turned to MIMP connecting solutions.

Using secure 120 megabit-per-second licensed microwave links, MIMP installed one of the fastest privately owned wireless networks in the world, which went live in November 2007.

The major benefit has been better patient care through providing immediate access to centrally stored patient records from any SA Heart Centres cardiology branch throughout metropolitan Adelaide. “MIMP has future-proofed our technology with a high performance network and predictable costs. We are gaining a rapid return on our investment," said SA Health Centres past chairman Dr Bill Heddle.

Globetrotters on British Airways are enjoying fine wines from family-owned Barossa Valley winemaker Rosenvale Wines during the run-up to Christmas.

Rosenvale Wines of Nuriootpa has delivered a significant order to the airline with its Rosenvale 2004 Reserve Shiraz for First Class passengers and Rosenvale 2006 Estate Semillon for Economy travellers.

Rosenvale Wines is a family business of the Rosenzweig family that makes and markets wine sourced from their Estate vineyards in the Barossa Valley, dating back to 1935.

The family has prime vineyard land in the northern Barossa which is managed under a Quality Assured grape-growing program and committed to production of super premium fruit. The majority of the fruit produced is sold to other winemakers, but the family retains a small amount of selected fruit to produce their very personal ‘Rosenvale’ label.
