Kelvin HeathAsia-Pacific information security company Vectra Corporation has recruited an aspiring “iron man” and former EDS executive who held the role of IT Chief Security Officer for the Commonwealth Bank as a Senior Security Consultant at its Sydney office.

Kelvin Heath, a keen triathlete who was previously regional compliance manager for EDS, will provide IT security advice to Vectra clients with a focus on assisting them to comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) V1.1, established in late 2006 by all major credit card brands.

Kelvin has a wealth of experience from throughout the IT sector including computer operator, programmer, analyst, IT auditor, audit manager and diverse security management roles. His qualifications include Certified Information Systems Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Qualified Security Assessor (QSA).

Utilising his vast auditing and consulting experience in the financial services sector, Kelvin’s primary role is to provide PCI DSS audit, assessment and remediation assistance to Vectra clients.

Chris SmerdonAsia-Pacific information security company Vectra Corporation is positioned for stronger growth after a global technology company purchased a majority shareholding in the Australian-based business.

CDC Software, a subsidiary of CDC Corporation, which provides industry-specific enterprise software applications and business services, has taken a controlling stake in Vectra, a leading provider of information security consulting services, managed services and enterprise security solutions. 

The investment in Vectra provides a strategic fit with Praxa Limited, CDC Software's consulting services company in Australia; This significantly strengthens CDC Software’s position in the IT security and services market in the Asia-Pacific region.

Vectra’s founding managing director Chris Smerdon will continue to lead the company, which employs about 60 people at offices in Adelaide, Sydney and Singapore.  The current operational and staffing structure of the business will remain unchanged.

Designed by South Australian entrepreneur Michael Zerman and industrial designer Michael Youds, the iholder portable computer stand addresses an increasing global OH&S concern about potential musculo-skeletal effects caused by long-term use of laptop computers.

Iholder’s first channel to market is Supply SA, part of Contract Services, a business unit within the Department for Administrative and Information Services (DAIS) in the South Australian Government. Supply SA delivers a range of stationery, hospital and general products to government agencies, benevolent organisations, schools and hospitals in South Australia and the Northern Territory.
